TKT(Teaching Knowledge Test) is a test from Cambridge ESOL about teaching English to speakers of other languages. It is designed to assess teacher knowledge, and not teaching ability. The exam is meant for teachers at any stage of their career, whether they are pre-service or merely looking to develop professionally. Studying for this exam will also aid teachers who would like to access professional journals and research which may help them in their own educational focus.
In general, the content of the test focuses on concepts related to language, language use and the background and practice of language teaching.

There are 80 questions in each module’s test, and there are 3 modules. All the questions are answered by choosing the correct letter from various options. There is no extensive writing or speaking. In addition, the 3 modules may be taken independently and in any order; however, as one module builds on the one before it, it is recommended that you take them in order
Three Modules The contents
Module 1
Language learning and teaching
The first module looks at grammar terms and functions, as well as the 4 skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing) and their subskills. The issues involved in the learning process are also examined, such as motivation and errors. Learner styles and needs are then discussed, and finally the methods of Presentation, Practice and Production (PPP) and Task-based Learning (TBL) are briefly studied for their techniques on how to present material to students. Finally, various types of assessments are explained. In this module, memorizing many terms is the way to success.
Module 2
Lesson planning and resource
This second module is more focused on steps to take in your lessons and how to design them effectively. The notion of lesson aims is examined, along with how to sequence lessons well. Resources available to teachers in and outside of class, as well as supplementary materials to use in addition to coursebooks, are also compared. Many of the concepts tested here are covered in module 1, such as subskills, and module 2 looks at the stages of presenting them to a class.
Module 3
Behavior in the classroom
This is the shortest module, and it looks at teacher and learner behavior more specifically. The various ways to address students for different purposes is talked about; furthermore, we also speak about recognizing functions of learners’ language and how to deal with them. Last but not least, the more minute details of teacher roles for different activities will be discussed, as well as how to give feedback in approaches that motivate the students. Module 3 uses concepts from both modules 1 and 2 in it’s explanations.
